A Space I Cannot Picture
I have included a video in which mathematician Maggie Miller explores four-dimensional topology. Manifolds can resemble ordinary flat space up close, while their overall structure is harder to imagine.
A familiar corner may tell me little about how the rest of the shape connects. Perhaps this is why I keep treating the photographs as rooms, then lose my way between them.
The next question is mine. If there were entities that existed in more spatial dimensions than I can see, what would I identify as the boundaries of that being? The mathematics gives me the framework to ask this question; it does not give me answers to identify what it is in these photographs.
